In the stories a people continue telling about themselves.
Munhumutapa belongs to that deeper layer of African memory — a name associated with sovereignty, commerce, knowledge and a civilization whose influence extended across Southern Africa long before colonial cartography reorganised the continent.
In 2026, Uncle Scotty approaches that legacy through sound....yes! Music!
MUNHUMUTAPA MOVEMENT is not an attempt to recreate the past. It is an interrogation of what happens when an old cultural consciousness enters a new technological and musical age.
Afro-Fusion. Amapiano. Dancehall. Hip Hop...you get what I'm sayin?
Different genres become different instruments in the same cultural conversation.
The featured artists bring more than individual performances. They bring languages, histories, identities and contemporary experiences — fragments of a larger Zimbabwean reality.
That is what makes the project significant.
It does not argue that culture must remain frozen in order to remain authentic.
It proposes something more interesting:
Culture survives by transforming.
Munhumutapa is therefore not presented as a museum piece.
It becomes a metaphor for continuity — the idea that identity can travel through centuries, absorb new influences and still retain a recognizable memory of where it came from.
The empire changed.
The world changed.
But the conversation continues.
